I’ve always been a D&D nerd. Even before I owned a Player’s Handbook (2nd edition, yo!) I was a D&D geek. I remember as a kid finding some old RPG that belonged to my Mom or Dad, and being fascinated with the scifi theme, and the naked, bald chick on the character sheet. So it shouldn’t be any surprise that I’m a huge fan of MMOs. Like many, my crack is World of Warcraft. But just as they’ve made it easier to get further in the game than I’ve ever been, and just as they’ve announced a new expansion with tons of cool stuff, I’ve been losing interest.
But next week, Dungeons and Dragons Online is being relaunched as free-to-play game. And though I’ve played the game before, and though I’ve found it kinda meh, I’m willing to give it another shot. Hell, it’s free. One of the things I really liked about DDO was the dugneon master reading flavor text when you enter a dungeon. It really makes you feel like you’re sitting around a table playing with friends, without the hassle of friends!
