Ch-ch-changes

Well, I’ve taken the plunge away from blogger to WordPress/Comicpress.  Though it might look a little bare at the moment, things will continue to change, hopefully without being overwhelming.  Stick around for more.  And remember,  new webcomics every Monday and Wednesday.

Reading Rainbow

So I just heard on NPR’s Morning Edition that after 26 years, “Reading Rainbow” is being canceled. Apparently, the climate in public television is that children’s programing should focus on tools to help kids read, rather than encourage children to read. Personally, I think television is the last place kids should go to learn how to read. That’s like sending fat people to McDonalds to lose weight. However, on a positive note, this leave LeVar Burton open to star in a Geordie La Forge-centric Star Trek where he captains a ship full of Pakleds.

(I couldn’t remember what the Pakleds were called, so I did a little search for La Forge and mentally retarded aliens, and came across some of the most vile, idiotic, and racist bullshit. Who the fuck watches Star Trek and is a racist? And so, I’ve had my first encoutner with Vanguard News Network. What a bunch of douche bags.)

DDO

I’ve always been a D&D nerd. Even before I owned a Player’s Handbook (2nd edition, yo!) I was a D&D geek. I remember as a kid finding some old RPG that belonged to my Mom or Dad, and being fascinated with the scifi theme, and the naked, bald chick on the character sheet. So it shouldn’t be any surprise that I’m a huge fan of MMOs. Like many, my crack is World of Warcraft. But just as they’ve made it easier to get further in the game than I’ve ever been, and just as they’ve announced a new expansion with tons of cool stuff, I’ve been losing interest.

But next week, Dungeons and Dragons Online is being relaunched as free-to-play game. And though I’ve played the game before, and though I’ve found it kinda meh, I’m willing to give it another shot. Hell, it’s free. One of the things I really liked about DDO was the dugneon master reading flavor text when you enter a dungeon. It really makes you feel like you’re sitting around a table playing with friends, without the hassle of friends!

Greetings Robots!

Just a little update: the current storyline should be finished next week, and then we’re going to move into a Halloween story.  That one should probably run until the end of the month, but we’ll see.
